How To Talk So Your Children Will Listen (LeadAfrique)

The way we talk to our kids has a significant impact on their learning and ability to listen to us. There are generally three different ways that parents communicate with their kids. The first is an aggressive communication style. These parents yell a lot, put their kids down, and use derogatory language. The second is a passive form in which parents mutter soft, cautious words and tones to their children. The third way for parents to communicate with their children is through assertiveness; this is by far the most effective way to interact with children of all ages. Assertive communication is firm, consistent, clear, positive, warm, and confident.
